Lomitas Elementary School
|
| "Student 1" - An extraordinarily horrible case - IQ in the 50's, severely emotionally disturbed, ADHD, severely dysfunctional home. This child had attended school for three years, was still in first grade, and Lomitas Elementary School essentially ignored the fact that there could be any significant problems! | |
| "Student 2" - This poor child enrolled in school during the month of November (the school year begins in September) - not only had he/she once been abducted and spent a significant amount of time before he/she was returned to his/her mother, but he/she was also placed in a psychiatric hospital, during the last week of the school year to determine if he/she was "emotionally disturbed." Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. | |
| "Student 3" - Even though this child had received speech and counseling services at the school, moved to another school where he/she had also received additional services, upon returning and enrolling in class, no services of any kind were provided. During the last week of the school year, this child was absent because he/she had been having seizures. Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. | |
| "Student 4" - This child, the eldest of four children, had been molested by his/her biological father and was living in a foster home because his/her mother was a drug addict. Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. | |
| "Student 5" - Although this child was receiving some services for speech therapy, he/she needed much more. The principal of the school would not schedule any meetings to start additional testing (or referrals to other programs) because the mother (a father was not in the home) would not attend meetings to discuss her child. In other words, if the parent won't show up, then the school doesn't need to be "bothered" either. Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. | |
| "Student 6" - School records, from a previous school, indicated that this child may have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Other than one meeting with the parent, the school did nothing to assist this child. Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. | |
| "Student 7" - Another heartbreaking case - this child was suicidal (he/she was a first grader), urinated and defecated (deliberately) on the floor at home. In addition, he/she had torn a head off of a bird and laughed while spraying the blood on others. This child's biological mother had extreme mental and other problems. Lomitas Elementary School did nothing to help this child. |
