April 9, 1998 - Bobby "Big Buck$" Cha$e, in a letter to Jack Kemp (April 14, 1998), you state that "I am an elected representative–whose salary, benefits, and activities are the subject of close scrutiny by those who elect me. My salary is a matter of public record, published in a budget voted on by 10,000 delegates to our annual Representative Assembly." In fact, in this response to a letter from the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution, you tried to justify your "'total compensation' as $301,302' as including your "salary of $185,000 [with the] rest of the amount including expenses for travel, lodging, and everything else." Gosh, just how much was that "everything else?" If your "salary, benefits, and activities are the subject of close scrutiny by those who elect [you]" then why did NEA allegedly harass Ronica Sarkisian-Carlisle for asking you about that exact?

April 30, 1998 - Bobby Big Buck$ Cha$e, in another response, this time from Gregory Fossedal, of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution, we learn that "the amount reported in the LM-2 form you [Bob Chase] signed for the fiscal year ending August, 1997. This form is on file at the U.S. Department of Labor. The figure you list on that form under total compensation is: $301,302." Could that have anything to do with the fact that NEA finally settled "off the record" with Ronica Sarkisian-Carlisle, an NEA member who was apparently harassed for asking you about your salary?
